Because I Can by ~Effamay:iconEffamay:

I'm writing this poem
because I can
My thoughts on paper
for all to see
but for once, I don't care
of your opinion of me

I'm writing this purely
from the thoughts in my mind
  the ones to comfort
  and the ones to scare
the ones you ache to know
  and the ones you don't
in free verse, mostly
with no intentional rhyme

I write this for no particular occasion
this be not a declaration
nor celebration

with no structure
nor rhythm
I write this poem
because I can

Author's Comments

Something that came up in conversation today...
We'd both spend our time writing poems for people, for special occasions and such like, whereas now... We are writing because we can. For no one in particular, we write to please no one but ourselves. If it helps someone, comforts them, or informs them of something they need to know... Great.
but it's not always for them.

It's liberating to be able to write so freely, experiment so openly, to know that I'm doing this because I can

Soemthing I've been thinking about for a while...
It's not so much a poem as a list of random thought
Ah well. It's fun to write anyhow.

Thank you! :)

So true :) Its so much better when it comes from the heart purely :) Not because of occasion and the like..
